Run Down and Questionable Content

Life’s pretty crazy and hectic right now. It seems like there are no ends to the projects to be done, the homework assignments to finish, and the students to tutor. If I spend any time doing something that doesn’t relate to classwork, research, tutoring, or applying to grad school, I tend to feel guilty, which is not a good place to for me to be mentally and emotionally, but there you go. I’m trying to do things for myself at the same time. Unfortunately, the bowling trip with friends this weekend has had some lasting negative effects. I started the first game with a ball that was probably about six pounds too heavy for me, and that, along with fencing, has aggravated my tendonitis to levels approaching freshman year, when I actually had to start physical therapy and have friends come to class to take notes for me. Needless to say, this is not good. I could really use a few days for nothing but rest…

I’ll leave off with the whining; no one wants to hear it, myself included. Instead, let me direct you all to Questionable Content, a web comic to which my suitemates have addicted me. Reportedly, it’s an indie music comic, but, in all honesty, you don’t have to be an indie music person to enjoy it. (If you needed to be, my suitemates wouldn’t be reading it. I think I’m probably the person that’s closest to being “indie” in the apartment, which really says a lot.) Pintsize, the main character’s AnthroPC, is a particular delight, although Faye gets full awesome votes from me, too, for that rapier wit. When I read through the archives this weekend, I marked some of my favorites.

We’re building a hovercraft this weekend. Hopefully, I’ll have some nice pictures of that later. Better yet, pictures of the hovercraft working.

First: Feel better! I think it would be loads of fun, personally, to show up randomly in one of your EMAE classes as a private scribe, but given the fact that our schools are separated by like 140 miles this probably won’t work. Only two weeks until Thanksgiving break!

Second: What weight ball did you use? I think they stop making them at 16 pounds. I use a 12 or a 13 (when I bowled regularly), with the 13 having just the bit of extra weight needed to keep my arm from doing anything but throwing it straight.

Third: I must let Dan know he’s (indirectly) got someone else hooked on that comic! It started with a link in his profile — which I found, so I read the entire archives in one day. Then I posted a link in my away message, which was found by Mark, and he read the entire archives in one day…. Unless QS or Eric happened to get to it first, I’m going to assume you can blame Dan for your new addiction. :-)

Fourth: By “we,” do you mean you and your suitemates? This will be hilarious. There must be pictures, I say.

    Have a good weekend!

    What a comment!

Firstly, thank you. My hand does feel better today, which is good because I had to finish getting my bent shined for Tau Beta Pi. Hopefully my hand problems are getting better.

Secondly: I’m guessing that the ball had to have been 16 pounds. I think the ball I regularly use is 10. The one that I used after the ultra-heavy ball was probably a 12 pound ball. I know that it was heavy enough that when I had to bowl my final frame with an 8 pound ball I couldn’t get it to go straight for the life of me.

Thirdly, it probably is Dan’s fault. For once, it’s not Eric who is ruining my life.

Fourthly, by “we” I mean, my EMAE 360 project group. But there should still be pictures.
