Jiggity Jig

I’m happy to report that the space shuttle Discovery has made it safely into space (which you already knew, right?) and I have safely made it back from the Caribbean (which you didn’t know, right?). I kept a faithful journal of daily activities right up to Aruba, where I fell into the same unfortunate rut that most people Mark Twain knew in The Innocents Abroad did. From there on, I have lists enough to remind myself of what happened.

I also have an estimated half a gig worth of photos to download, upload, sort, and share as needed. I haven’t seen any of them in their full, high-resolution glory, but considering how breathtaking many of them look even on a tiny screen, I can’t wait. I’m sure you’re all looking forward to it.

The postcards, though written, have not yet been posted. I hope you’ll forgive me for posting them from boring old North Carolina tomorrow, but I’m afraid I can’t do better. Those of you getting cards from Dominica and Barbados can be excited by the fact that your cards had additional visits to San Juan and Aruba. More bang for the buck.

Right now, I need some sleep, so I must bid you all adieu.

P.S. - Happy Fourth of July! It’s easy to forget that it’s a holiday when you spend the entire day traveling.

Yay returnèd Gnome! Did you happen to be in the air around 9:30 p.m. yesterday in any time zone? I was just thinking how fun it would be to fly on July 4 and look at all the fireworks displays from above.

My sister saw one or two fireworks from the air, but, unfortunately, I was on an aisle seat and could barely see the window, let alone anything outside of it. Also, we were flying through some stormy areas around then, too, so things didn’t work out quite so well :-/
